Pine stands for Pine Is Nolonger Elm (or Pine Is Not Elm, depending who you ask.) In any case, Pine Used To Be Elm (Putbe) so the features are fairly similar, and although to some pine appears to be a dumbed-down version of elm, _I_ won't look down on you if you use pine. To tell the truth, that's what's really important in your newsreader or mailreader: The respect you'll get from other users.
