Avoiding Running as root (cont)

• RunAsUser (confRUN_AS_USER)

  • user that sendmail switches to after binding to port 25 (similar to Apache)
  • has weird implications...
    • ignore DefaultUser and TrustedUser
    • must be able to read all alias files, maps, and .forward files
