• most config management (CM) tools:

  • designed monolithically (cannot mix & match ideas/functionality from different tools)
  • result: lots of wheel reinvention!

• psgconf:

  • components are implemented as dynamically loaded external modules
  • written entirely in perl, so easy to add new components
